PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS (applies to all plants)

1. Water the plant in the pot before planting.

 

    Never plant a dry plant!

 

 

 

2. Dig a wide hole not a deep hole. The hole should

 

    twice as wide as the root ball. The top of the root

 

    ball should be slightly above the surrounding soil

 

    after the hole has been backfilled.

 

 

 

3. Carefully remove the plant from the pot. If the roots

 

    are matted on the outside of the root ball break

 

    them up by pulling them apart or cutting them with

 

   a sharp knife. 


 4. Sprinkle a handful of Espoma Plantone

 

   Organic fertilizer onto the soil from the hole and mix

 

   in Complete Landscape Mix. 1/2 bag for a 3 gal. or

 

   1 bag per 4 1 gal. plants. 


 5. Backfill the hole with the mix and tamp the soil down

 

    with your foot. The top of the root ball should be

 

    exposed with no soil covering it.

 
6. Water thoroughly to settle the plant into the soil.

 

 


7. Cover the plant, including the root ball, with mulch

 

   such as pine bark or pine straw.

 

 


8. Keep the plant watered as needed.
